Jose Martinez, LOLA Sr. Advocate
San Antonio, TX
As a Hospice Expert and Placement Advocate, I have spent years building close relationships with San Antonio’s best Physicians, Hospital Case Managers, Assisted Living Facilities, and Private Care Services. These relationships have prepared me to address each patient's unique medical requirements and their families' concerns with urgency, compassion, and the highest standard of care.
Working with families to achieve the best possible quality of life for loved ones in challenging circumstances has become my calling. I have made many lifelong friends through this service, including Esther Pipoly. Helping her secure appropriate hospice services for her husband and father was a privilege.

Lynette Connell
San Antonio, TX
Lynette has 29 years of financial services experience in P&C, Life, Health, and Annuities and leading teams and projects. Lynette learned firsthand the negative aspects of being part of a blended family with incomplete planning when her Mom passed away without specific legal documentation to support her true intentions. When her Dad was unexpectedly hospitalized, she realized he didn’t have his wishes outlined nor legal forms for her to ensure his bills were paid and assets protected. Her efforts required laborious research and intense work, especially with handling his situation during the pandemic and his hospital stay extended for 7 months out of town. She had numerous obstacles to overcome, juggling a job, virtual instruction for the youngest child with pandemic school closure, and the health issues of her spouse.
Fortunately, a family member referred Lynette to LOLA, providing her with many resources to utilize. She got her Dad’s situation rectified with the support of LOLA. She is grateful for LOLA advocates and wishes she had known about LOLA sooner. As a result of Lynette’s arduous personal challenges, she desires to help people plan for unexpected events by navigating them with support and resources. Also, she wants families to be prepared by planning appropriately before life events occur.

Adele Cardenas Malott
Dallas, North Texas, and surrounding areas
I am a retired Chemical Engineer with 30+ years of experience at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and in the private sector at a Texas steel company and a major Food company. During my federal career, I focused on planning, strategizing, and facilitating multi-party activities, including public forums and collaborations with federal, state, and local authorities.
I also served on professional and personal advisory committees at local and national levels, gaining a deep understanding of government and private sector processes. As a good listener, I prioritize understanding the needs of individuals, families, and company partners.
The LOLA story is a family story that taught my siblings and me the importance of supporting one another after the passing of our parents. We had witnessed the strength and resilience of our mother, who managed her kidney disease with determination and planned for our family's future after her passing. Our father followed her lead, organizing his documents and discussing his plans with us, ultimately allowing us to understand and honor his wishes.
